Custom calibration for GEMS engine management, mapped on a dyno under knock detection and wideband AFR monitoring. At our Northampton workshop, or at a dyno of your choosing anywhere in the UK.
What’s included
What each package covers
Full remap – includes dyno time: a calibration built from your original ROM on the dyno, with the dyno time included. Nothing to settle up at the end.
Tuning only: the same calibration work, at a dyno you book and pay for. Travel is quoted per job.
Revision to our map – includes dyno time: changes to one of our own calibrations with the dyno time included, for when the change needs measuring.
Revision to our map – at a dyno you arrange: the same revision work without dyno time, for a change that does not need a run.
A map somebody else wrote is not a revision — we start from your original ROM and quote it as a full remap.
What you get
A calibration built for your engine, in iterations: it runs under load while knock activity and air-fuel ratio are watched live, the tables that need work are changed, and the same test is run again. That loop is the job. A single pull and a saved file is not a map.
Sensor setup and scaling checked before anything is tuned – a map on top of a badly scaled input is guesswork
Cranking, warm-up and idle strategy, so the car starts and behaves cold as well as hot
Fuelling and ignition through the full load and rpm range, on the dyno under knock detection
Limits, protections and failsafes set deliberately rather than left at defaults
Traction, launch, flat-shift and anti-lag configured where your unit supports them and your build calls for them
Logging set up so you can see what the engine is doing after you drive away
The finished map, the datalogs behind it, and a written summary of what changed
Which option you need
Full remap – a calibration built for your car from your base calibration, on the dyno, under knock detection and wideband AFR. Dyno time is included in the price, so there is nothing to settle up at the end.
Tuning only – the same work, at a dyno you book yourself. Useful if your car is already going somewhere with rollers, is not road legal, or you would rather not trailer it across the country. We travel, and travel is quoted per job; the cell is yours to pay for.
Revision to our map – changes to one of our own calibrations, after a hardware change, a fault, or a season's running. Take it with dyno time included, or at a dyno you arrange yourself – we travel, and travel is quoted per job.
A map somebody else wrote is not a revision. We start from your base calibration and quote it as a full remap: picking up unfamiliar work without knowing what was changed or why takes as long as doing it properly, and usually longer.
Standalone, not a reflash
A GEMS is not an OEM ECU with its tables rewritten. There is no factory calibration underneath doing the thinking for you: everything from injector characterisation to overrun fuelling exists because someone put it there. Commissioning an engine onto a standalone for the first time is a longer job than refining one that already runs, so tell us which it is when you book and we will set aside the right amount of dyno time.
Mapped in the manufacturer's own calibration software.
What we need from you
The car or engine, wiring finished and checked, with the loom terminated properly
Which unit you are running and what it is currently loaded with
A list of the hardware, honestly – cams, injectors, turbo, compression, intake, exhaust
Fresh fluids and a healthy engine: mapping does not fix mechanical problems, it finds them
Not sure the installation is ready? That conversation is free – talk to us before you book the dyno.
Know when your engine is covered
We develop induction kits one engine at a time — Honda K20 and Peugeot GTi6/Mi16 so far, with more in build and a bespoke route for anything else. Subscribe and we will tell you when a kit lands for yours, and send the sizing and fitment guides we write along the way.
